The final year students for the creative courses at the University of Salford all come together to hold a combined exhibition at the Cube Gallery in central Manchester every year. This project aims to advertise the entire exhibition as one event, whilst at the same time allowing each course to be represented separately. Each course has been assign a coloured kite, which are box kites as a subtle reference to the Cube Gallery.
The theme of kites was chosen to act as a metaphor to describe the students that will be leaving university. The kites rise from the picture, to represent the students taking flight from university onto the next step in their lives and careers.
Fun fact: All the kites were made by hand using balsa wood, tissue paper and PVA glue. Any imperfections were retouched out in photoshop after being photographed.
